Setting the LIS-SV

This section supplements the “LIS-SV” product manual. The parameters described here are only available if the LIS-SV is used in an ABULiner control unit.

Danger during setting work!

During setting work on the LIS-SV, monitoring of the wire rope hoist is switched off. This means the wire rope hoist cannot be monitored for excess load, among other things.  This means the wire rope hoist cannot be monitored for excess load, among other things.

This in turn means the load could fall and kill or injure people!

Do not use the crane for normal work during setting work, and only lift loads very carefully for test purposes!

 

 

Accessing the 'ABULiner' parameter level

All LIS-SV parameters which are important for the ABULiner are combined in a separate parameter level, which is shown as a submenu.

 

 

 

    Move the load hook out of the limit switch range (up or down).

During parameter setting, the load hook must not be within the limit switch range.

    Open the menu of the LIS-SV. See the documentation “Load indicator system LIS-SV”.

Activating/deactivating the LIS-SV for the ABULiner

The LIS-SV is automatically activated for the ABULiner if a value is entered for the parameter 5.11.

In the ABULiner mode (a value is set for parameter 5.11):

─     The LIS-SV can monitor the total load for a maximum of two wire rope hoists.

─     Input F3 (normally used for measuring the load of wire rope hoist 3) now serves in monitoring the current rotational frequency of the hoist motor.

─     A value can be entered for parameter 3.0 (maximum load capacity of wire rope hoist 3). If a value is entered for this, parameter 5.11 cannot be set.

─     This interlocking thus excludes an incorrect setting.

─     The load-controlled switching point at output TxD of the LIS-SV cannot be used.

─     Parameter 4.5 (setting for load-controlled switching point) is not available.

 

 

In the normal mode (no value is set for parameter 5.11):

─     Operation of the ABULiner Lifting/Lowering unit is not possible.

─     The LIS-SV can monitor the total load for up to three wire rope hoists.

─     Input F3 serves in measuring the load of a third wire rope hoist.

─     A value can be entered for parameter 5.11 (gear ratio). If a value is entered for this, parameter 3.0 cannot be set.

─     This interlocking thus excludes an incorrect setting.

─     The load-controlled switching point at output TxD of the LIS-SV can be used.

─     Parameter 4.5 (setting for load-controlled switching point) can be used.

 

 

Setting the gear ratio

The LIS-SV uses the signal of the encoder and the gear ratio of the hoisting gear to calculate the hook travel distance, the maximum distance in the limit switch range and the current rotational frequency of the hoist motor. The gear ratio must be set on the machine.

 

 

Cable speed

 

    Read off the type designation at the type plate of the wire rope hoist.

    Read off the cable speed.

 

 

    From this table, select the gear ratio that matches the cable speed.

If the display ‘0.00’ cannot be changed, a value is set in parameter 3.0.  In this case, set the value to zero first.

One night, the city hosts a public forum about growth. Statisticians present graphs and models; voices from podiums insist that increasing GDP to 239 and beyond will lift more boats and smooth more lives. In the crowd, someone asks what growth means if the river runs slow and the fishing boats lie empty. Another voice asks whether numbers can count loneliness, whether indices can weigh the ease of sleep or the dignity of an elder’s living room. The panel nods politely; the charts do not change.

Grace writes numbers in a small notebook that is mostly blank. She records not the price of things but the moments that evade accounting: the length of a sunset behind the factory chimneys, the warmth of a borrowed blanket, the hush when a crowd stops work to applaud a rescue. These are not GDP components, she thinks, but they form a ledger of another kind—a ledger that adds up in ways economists do not know how to measure.

Grace notices what the numbers miss. A child’s crooked laugh that costs nothing but changes the day; a nurse whose hands carry years of steady work and unpaid overtime; a rooftop garden where tomatoes ripen for no one’s balance sheet. In a back alley a mural, half-faded, reads: "Measure what matters." GDP 239 is a number that does not belong to anyone but demands attention. For some it is ledger, forecast, daily headline; for others it is cipher, a latch on to which they secure their hopes. To Grace it reads like coordinates: an index of motion and margin, a pulse measured in transactions, a map of need and surplus. She studies it as if it were a weather report for human appetite—where demand will thunder, where supply will dry into dust.

She realizes that interpretation is always an act of translation. GDP 239, stripped down, is not a verdict but a description—an accounting of flows and forces. What we decide to add to that account, what we refuse to quantify, determines what counts as success. Grace sketches a small diagram in her notebook: a circle for the ledgered economy, precise and labeled; a concentric ring for the uncounted, messy and overflowing. She writes a single line beneath it: "Measure to serve, not to rule." It is a proposition, and also a plea. Another voice asks whether numbers can count loneliness,

Grace arrives at the edge of the city where light slips between glass teeth and the hum of engines becomes a steady, distant heartbeat. She carries a name like a promise and a suitcase that smells faintly of cedar and rain. People call her graceful because she moves as if hesitant to disturb the pattern of the world; she calls herself Grace when she needs to sound ordinary. Sward—an old family word for the patchwork green behind a farmhouse—sticks to her like quiet memory, a soft counterpoint to the hard geometry of downtown blocks.

The auxiliary fan of the hoist motor continues to run for several minutes after the lifting or lowering. This ensures that the hoist motor is adequately cooled even at slow lifting speeds. The run-on time can be adjusted.
